During this past offseason, The Woodlands quarterback Jack Dalton sat down with Vype’s Matt Malatesta for the On My Whistle podcast.
In our interview with KPRC 2 Sports, he stated that the game he has circled on his calendar is this week’s game against Willis.
So with this being game week, we went out to chat with him and his teammates on how they’re feeling ahead of Friday night’s game.
“There’s always energy around this game, you know, both teams definitely show up,” said Dalton. “It’s obviously been a very physical game the past couple of years, we’ve lost the past two against them, and I just think we wanna go out there and get that win.”
“I think it would mean a lot, but I think it means the same as any other week,” said senior safety Caycen Bartolazzi. “We gotta go into this week thinking it’s just another game. As long as we play to the best of our ability, I think we can beat anybody in the state.”
“Every game is big, we have to continue to stack wins together so we get a chance to make the playoffs, and that’s just our next opportunity,” said Head Coach Jim Rapp.
“It was our only loss of district last year, so and I think that I just want to go get that kind of revenge against them,” said Dalton. “You don’t want to lose to them two years in a row and just going out there and trying to beat them, that’s what’s important.”
The Highlanders and Wildkats will kick off at 7 p.m. at Willis High School on Friday night.
