District play heated up Friday and Saturday with some key games being played between teams around the Texas Panhandle and on the South Plains. Check out Randall’s win over Canyon in a District 4-4A showdown, Lubbock-Cooper’s victory against Lubbock Monterey in a District 3-5A clash and Fort Elliott remained unbeaten in District 1-1A after defeating Miami.

District 4-4A

In the first of two district meetings, it was Randall walking out of enemy territory with its biggest win to date earning a sweep of rival Canyon, 26-24, 25-22, 25-19, at the Joe Lombard Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Raiders (18-12 overall) are tied with West Plains in first place of District 4-4A at 4-0. The Lady Eagles (13-13) suffer their first loss in district and are now 3-1.

The power game from Chloe Brown, Amber Matthews and Nevaeh Conner came up clutch for Randall. Brown knocked down 13 kills on 15 attacks and had 12 digs for a double-double. Conner went for 10 kills and nine digs and Matthews hammered home 10 kills and had three blocks at the net. Bennett Moore ran the offense with 16 assists and Kambree Gonzalez carried the defense thanks to 23 digs. 

Laney Jones did her part for Canyon ending the match with 13 digs and 12 kills for a double-double. London Gibson totaled nine digs and seven assists with Aiva Kerr getting 17 digs.
