A Houston-area sheriff’s office made multiple arrests days after a youth baseball coach was airlifted from a tournament last weekend. The coach, who has not been identified, was shot in the shoulder. Three men were arrested on Tuesday, September 23.
The situation unfolded at the The Rac baseball fields in the Ameripark Sportsplex in Katy, a suburb of Houston.
A video that captured the moment that players and coaches realized gunshots were fired went viral. KHOU reports the coach, a 27-year-old man, was struck in the shoulder during a pre-game prayer.
“He literally took the bullet for a child that was to his left, and so thankfully we avoided a major disaster. Still very, very emotional over it,” Houston Warriors founder Andy Baize told KHOU on Wednesday.
