AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what it calls a “suspicious death” after a woman was found lying on the ground in the parking lot of an apartment complex, and later died, a news release from the agency said.
Around 12:51 a.m., deputies with TCSO responded to a disturbance call in the 8400 block of East Parmer Lane at the complex between Austin and Manor. According to the release, 911 callers reported people “yelling and fighting in the parking lot.”
The agency said several people who may be involved ran away from the scene before deputies arrived.
TCSO found a woman, possibly in her 30s, lying on the ground in need of immediate medical help, the release said. Austin-Travis County EMS attempted CPR and took the woman to the hospital. She later died at the hospital at 4:22 a.m., said the release.
Witness statements indicate the possibility of physical abuse from a subject on scene, and according to the agency, the woman may have been pushed in front of a moving vehicle.
According to the release, deputies believe all parties involved in the disturbance are known to each other.
The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
