The Texans have built out their leadership for the 2025 season.
The Texans named five team captains Wednesday heading into the season-opener on the road against the Los Angeles Rams.
Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud, the former NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and second overall pick three years ago from Ohio State, returns as a captain.
Pro Bowl defensive end Will Anderson Jr., a former NFL Defensive Rookie of the year and third overall pick from Alabama, is another returning captain.
Middle linebacker and defensive signal caller Azeez Al-Shaair is a returning team captain.
Two new captains: Pro Bowl wide receiver Nico Collins, one of the top players in the NFL, and special-teams standout Dare Ogunbowale.

Ogunbowale is a versatile, reliable player who plays running back and has kicked successfully in a game as a stand-in for regular kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn.
