Fort Worth’s Northwest ISD nearing 34,000 students. These charts show how

Northwest ISD remains one of the fastest-growing school districts in North Texas.
Leaders expect enrollment this fall to land close to 33,500, a 2,500-student bump from last year fueled by thousands of new homes under construction across the district that includes parts of north Fort Worth, Haslet, Justin and Northlake.
Stuart Keogh, a demographer for Zonda Education, told trustees Aug. 25 that Northwest ISD added hundreds of students over the summer and is expected to finish about 300 to 400 students within projections when the state-required Oct. 31 enrollment snapshot is taken.
New subdivisions on the west side of Interstate 35 are driving much of the growth.
Voters passed a $1 billion bond in 2023 to fund new campuses. The replacements for Prairie View and Justin elementaries opened for the 2025-26 school year.
Another seven schools are scheduled to follow: the Dr. David Hicks Early Childhood Center, Dr. Leigh Anne Romer Elementary and Barksdale Middle in 2026; High School No. 4 in 2027; and two elementaries and a second early childhood center by 2028.
