AUSTIN (KXAN) — Sam Houston managed only 50 yards of offense, and Texas scored on all five possessions in the first half to build a 31-0 halftime lead over the Bearkats on Saturday at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium.
Arch Manning completed 14 of 17 passes for 227 yards with a touchdown, adding two rushing touchdowns. Jerrick Gibson rushed for 44 yards on seven carries with a touchdown, and DeAndre Moore returned to the field after an injury kept him out last week. He caught five passes for 79 yards. Tight end Jordan Washington caught a 32-yard pass for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Sam Houston didn’t convert a first down until there was 1:11 left in the half, and they’ve gained nine yards on the ground. Texas is averaging almost 10 yards per play.
