When thinking of playing at the historic Pebble Beach Golf Links, it’s a dream come true for any golfer, and Clear Springs High School junior Margaret Kerr was able to pile on dream scenarios in one week.
First, she was paired up with PGA Pro Steven Alker. They shared the course, and she learned as much as she could from the pro.
And a near-ace at 17?!

She ended up winning the 2025 Junior Girls Pure Insurance Championship with a winning putt on hole 18.
“I mean, it was unreal, it was truly amazing,” Kerr said. “From getting there, meeting a bunch of people, meeting kids from across the country, having the best pro that I could have wanted, and just luck of the draw getting him as my pro was truly amazing and then the whole golf experience, playing lights out for an entire week and just being able to make the winning putt at the last hole.”

Kerr also does a great job of making a log of us look lazy. She not only excels on the links and in the classroom, but she does so while working three jobs.
“I’m a club fitter at PGA Tour Superstore, I referee youth lacrosse games, and I’ve just become a coach for First Tee, so I’ve got 16 young little 7 to 9-year-olds that every Saturday I get to go coach, and it brings the life in me, it’s so much fun I mean I have so much joy every weekend making lesson plans and saying today I’m teaching you this life lesson and knowing that when I was their age I was doing the same thing but now I’m the one who gets to coach them,” said Kerr.
Kerr plans to play collegiate golf and is currently visiting a few schools that are offering her scholarships.
