Longhorns will host one of the nation’s top longhorns-while-he-can/” title=”Texas' Jahdae Barron is trying to enjoy the moments with the Longhorns while he can”>running backs.
The Longhorns have set themselves up nicely at the running back position early in the 2026 cycle. They recently hosted in-state targets Javian Osborne and KJ Edwards for the Junior Day, but they now have a big priority target at the position locked in for an official visit later on this summer.
Four star Jackson (AL) running back Ezavier Crowell recently re-classified to the 2026 class from the 2027 class and quickly changed the calculus of big boards across the country.

Crowell has rushed for 3,701 yards and 56 touchdowns during his freshman and sophomore seasons and he is now he is set to graduate early and get his college career started ahead of schedule.
As you would expect of a player of his caliber, the usual suspects across the country are heavily involved in this recruitment. Both Alabama and Auburn will host Crowell for official visits, as they compete to keep him within the state’s borders. Along with the Crimson Tide and the Tigers, both Georgia and Texas will host the talented back in the summer for official visits.

Texas is likely going to take two running backs this cycle and they are heavily involved with multiple highly rated backs early on. This is already setting up to be one of the more intriguing position groups to follow this cycle given the talent in-state, as well is nationally. Tashard Choice is casting a wide net and has never been afraid of going big game hunting.
Choice has skins on the wall as a recruiter. Will be interesting to see how he manages his big board this cycle as we head towards official visit season.
