The opening SEC weekend for the Horns is already being impacted by weather with strong storms forecast for Saturday as well.
The risk of strong storms in the Starkville area on Friday night, including the possibility of wind, tornadoes, and hail, forced the start time for the matchup between the No. 11 Texas Longhorns and the Mississippi State Bulldogs at Dudy Noble Field to move to 4 p.m. Central.

First pitch was originally scheduled for 6 p.m. Central on SEC Network+.
The inclement weather is expected to continue into Saturday with strong storms forecast for the 2 p.m. Central start time, setting up the possibility of a Sunday double header when the weather will be cool and sunny.
The first trip to Starkville for the Longhorns since 1922 is also the team’s long-awaited SEC opening in the midst of a 14-1 start, the best 15-game start for the program since 2005, the last time Texas won the national championship.
Friday’s game is the 14th meeting between the two programs and the first since playing in the 2021 College World Series, when the Bulldogs won two of three matchups and advanced to the finals, where Mississippi State beat Vanderbilt in three games to win the title. Texas had also lost to MSU in Arlington on the opening weekend of the 2021 season.
