AUSTIN (KXAN) — Andrew Mukuba had a decision to make after three years at Clemson when he entered the transfer portal. The Austinite decided to come home and play for Texas in his final season in college football.
Mukuba’s roots have always been important to him. An alumnus of LBJ High School, he loved his year at Texas.

Thursday, LBJ honored the proud former Jaguar. His jersey was hung up Mukuba’s during an assembly in the school’s gym.
“It means a lot because I was once one of the kids running around these hallways,” said Mukuba. “If they can see somebody like me do it, then they can for sure go out and pursue what they want to do.”

Current students, faculty and other alumni gathered to celebrate Mukuba. He was picked 64th overall by the Philadelphia Eagles as the final pick of the second round in the 2025 NFL draft.
The LBJ community is tight-knit, and it was clear to see how much Mukuba means to the entire school. He felt and feels the love and knows the impact he can have.
“I know some of these kids in these hallways or know someone that is related to them…And I feel like they know me personally outside of football stuff, just the type of person I am.”
Mukuba will head north to for Eagles’ offseason training this Sunday. Sean Fresch, who played cornerback for the Rice Owls, was also honored during the assembly. Fresch is attending rookie mini-camps for the Chiefs and Giants.
