Maligi returns to the Forty Acres after spending three seasons at Kansas State.
According to reports out of Manhattan on Thursday, new Texas Longhorns head coach Sean Miller is adding Kansas State Wildcats associate head coach Ulric Maligi to his coaching staff.
Maligi spent three seasons on Jerome Tang’s staff with the Wildcats after a year in Austin under former head coach Chris Beard. Known as a high-level recruiter and for his ties to the state of Texas, Maligi is considered one of the top assistant coaches in the country, helping to develop Markquis Nowell and Keyontae Johnson during his time in Manhattan. Nowell and Johnson were the only two teammates to earn All-American honors during the 2022-23 season.
With 17 years of experience as an assistant, Maligi followed Beard to Austin after spending three seasons at Texas Tech. Before coaching the Red Raiders, Maligi had five other stops in the state, including UT Arlington, Stephen F. Austin, Houston, SMU, and Texas A&M.
