AUSTIN (KXAN) – While on assignment in Houston, Meteorologist Kristen Currie had the opportunity to stop by the Houston Zoo. Home to over 6,000 animals, the zoo in southeast Texas takes pride in its animal care and wildlife conservation efforts.
The Houston Zoo supports 49 wildlife conservation projects in 27 countries. With a motto of “See Them. Save Them.”, visitors will find information throughout the exhibits on the extensive work being done to promote healthy and happy animal life. There’s also an entire exhibit on the effects of plastic pollution and the resulting impacts on wildlife.
Just a few years ago, the zoo celebrated its centennial, turning 100 years old in April of 2022.
